City Code Sec. § 44-1-13. Every wrecker must display lettering on both sides showing the owner's name, operating address and telephone number in a contrasting color at least 2 1/2 inches high, permanently affixed; magnetic signs are banned outright. When a wrecker removes a vehicle at the request of someone other than an on-duty police officer, the driver must electronically report the removal, release and storage location, plus a vehicle description, VIN and tag number, to the South Fulton Police Department within one hour of dropping the vehicle at the impound lot, and again within 24 hours of releasing it to the owner.

Impound lots must keep records of the call time, caller's name, tow date and location, arrival time at the lot, release time and the names of the driver and helper, and make that information available to the public electronically, by phone or in person during normal business hours. Wrecker services must register their release-contact phone number with the police department. A towing company operating in the city may not refuse checks insurable by a check approval agency or the four major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) as payment for towing and storage fees.

Section 8-1007 separately covers the private-property trespass towing process itself, directing property owners to call the police department for the city's authorized wrecker service contact rather than allowing police to call the wrecker directly.
