Schaumburg's zoning ordinance permits home occupations as an accessory use in residential districts (R-1 through R-4 and planned unit developments). The home occupation must be conducted entirely within the dwelling by residents of the household. No more than 25% of the total floor area of the dwelling may be devoted to the business. The business must not generate noise, odor, vibration, smoke, dust, or electrical interference beyond what is normal for a residential area. No stock-in-trade may be sold on the premises.
