Avondale, AZ Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Arizona controls abandoned-vehicle removal through ARS Title 28. Under ARS Section 28-4834, a peace officer who has reasonable grounds to believe a vehicle has been lost, stolen, abandoned or otherwise unclaimed may remove it from any street, highway or other public or private property. Expired registration may be considered in determining abandonment but does not by itself conclusively prove it. ARS Section 28-872 separately authorizes removal of unattended vehicles illegally left standing on a highway in a position that obstructs the normal movement of traffic. On Avondale streets and public rights-of-way, the Avondale Police Department applies these state procedures; on-street complaints go to the Police Department at 623-333-7000. For vehicles sitting on private residential property, the Avondale Code Compliance Division addresses inoperable or junk vehicles as a property-maintenance and zoning matter; those complaints can be filed through the AviWise app or by calling 623-333-2701.
