Avondale's Zoning Ordinance limits residential commercial-vehicle parking to one commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of not more than 10,000 pounds. Heavier trucks are not allowed to park in residential districts.
Section 28-162(d) of the Avondale Zoning Ordinance sets the rule for commercial vehicles in residential areas. Within residential zoning districts, parking is limited to one commercial vehicle with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of not more than ten thousand (10,000) pounds. A separate exception exists for the AG (Agricultural) District, where commercial vehicles and farming equipment directly related to permitted agricultural uses on that property may be parked. The practical effect is that a homeowner may keep one work truck, van or similar commercial vehicle at or below the 10,000-pound rating, but larger semi-tractors, box trucks and heavier commercial equipment cannot be parked in a residential neighborhood. This standard works together with the recreational-vehicle storage rules in Section 28-162(e) and the paved-surface requirement in Section 28-163(a). Code Compliance enforces the residential commercial-vehicle limit; complaints can be made through the AviWise app or by calling 623-333-2701. On public streets, heavy commercial vehicle parking is also subject to the traffic provisions of Chapter 23 and to state law.
