Avondale's Traffic Code prohibits overnight parking of any vehicle for the purpose of temporary or permanent habitation. There is no published blanket ban on ordinary overnight on-street parking, but ARS 28-873 prohibitions and posted signs still apply.
Chapter 23 (Traffic) of the Avondale City Code prohibits the overnight parking of any vehicle for the purpose of temporary or permanent habitation. In practice this means a person cannot park an RV, camper or other vehicle on a street and live or sleep in it overnight. Avondale has not published a general citywide curfew banning all overnight on-street parking of ordinary passenger vehicles, so where no sign is posted and the vehicle is not being used as a dwelling, ordinary overnight parking is not automatically prohibited. Standard state prohibitions under ARS Section 28-873 still apply at all hours, including the bans on parking near fire hydrants, in intersections, on crosswalks and where signs restrict parking. Living in or sleeping in a vehicle parked on the street is the conduct the Avondale overnight-habitation provision targets, and it is enforced by the Avondale Police Department, which also handles other on-street parking complaints (623-333-7000). Residents storing a recreational vehicle overnight on their own property must still comply with the front-yard storage restriction in Zoning Ordinance Section 28-162(e).
Overnight habitation in a parked vehicle is a violation of Chapter 23 enforced by the Avondale Police Department. Cited vehicles obstructing traffic may also be removed under ARS 28-872.
