Blue Springs, MO Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Blue Springs Community Development and the Blue Springs Police Department enforce Section 365.080 of the City Code, last amended by Ordinance No. 5065 on December 6, 2021. The ordinance makes it unlawful to park or store a commercial vehicle licensed for over six tons on any street or highway, or on public or private property, within a residentially zoned district anywhere in the City of Blue Springs, Missouri. It separately bans parking flatbed trucks, dump trucks, utility wreckers, boom trucks, bucket trucks, tandem-axle trucks, and cab-and-chassis trucks in those same residential districts, while expressly allowing standard pickup trucks.

Section 365.080(B)(4) defines a commercial vehicle as any motor vehicle used in or by a business in furtherance of the business, or any vehicle licensed as a commercial vehicle, so the six-ton threshold applies by licensed weight rather than actual load. Two exceptions apply: limited parking is permitted during loading, unloading, or the time needed to perform a service at a property on the block, and construction vehicles can park on an active construction site. Owners face liability even without being caught driving: Section 365.080(C) makes operation of a vehicle in violation prima facie evidence the registered owner controlled and used it, and Section 365.080(D) holds the registered owner responsible when the driver is not present.

The Chapter also bars parking travel trailers, campers over twenty feet, and RVs, trailers, or boats for more than twenty-four hours under the same Section, and Schedule V of the traffic code separately lists streets restricted to commercial vehicles and trucks under Section 365.070.
