Blue Springs, MO Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

The Blue Springs Unified Development Code treats driveway paving and width as part of the vehicle access standards administered under Chapter 407, General Development Standards. Section 407.020(D)(2)(b) requires single- and two-family residences to pave enough of the driveway to cover up to fifty percent of the front yard or street-facing side yard area where the drive sits, and it separately caps total driveway width within the right-of-way at thirty-five feet, applying whichever limit (the percentage or the thirty-five foot cap) is more restrictive. That width limit covers the combined total of every driveway on the lot, not each drive individually, and corner lots get a higher combined cap of forty-five feet at the right-of-way.

The Code carves out one paving exception: under Section 407.020(D)(2)(c), a single- or two-family driveway longer than two hundred feet does not have to be fully paved, but the property must still provide the minimum required number of parking spaces on a paved surface. Heavy-vehicle parking is separately restricted: vehicles over six tons or with more than two axles cannot park off-street or on-street in MF-18 and less intensive residential districts, though the rule does not stop trucks making temporary pickups or deliveries. The Director of Community Development and City Engineer administer these standards as part of site plan and building permit review under Title IV of the UDC.
