Glen Cove Code Chapter 265 prohibits parking any commercial vehicle (including commercial vans and pickup trucks) on public streets, in municipal garages, or on any municipal-owned property between 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. in any residential zoning district as mapped under Chapter 280.
The midnight-to-6 a.m. residential ban has been in effect for more than 20 years. 'Commercial vehicle' is defined broadly to include any vehicle with commercial license plates, lettered for hire, or rated over a specified GVWR. The ban also applies outdoors on any municipal-owned property regardless of district. Personal pickup trucks used solely for personal transportation are not 'commercial' even if owned by a contractor, but trucks with commercial plates or trade lettering are restricted. Article IIIA of Chapter 265 sets the schedule of parking violation fines.
First-offense overnight commercial-vehicle parking tickets typically run $50-$150 under the Article IIIA schedule, with escalating fines for repeat violations. Code Enforcement (516-676-3766) issues most of these citations.
