Glen Cove, NY Parking Rules: Snow Removal Parking Rules (2026)

1, "Snow emergencies," gives the Mayor authority to declare an emergency whenever, in the Mayor's judgment, snow has created dangerous driving conditions or the National Weather Service has predicted three inches or more of snowfall. Once declared, Subsection A makes it unlawful to park or abandon a vehicle along the even-numbered side of any street, avenue or highway in the City, and separately bans parking on either side of three named streets: Glen Street, School Street and Bridge Street, a subsection amended May 8, 2007.

Subsection C treats any vehicle left in violation as a nuisance and a menace to safe traffic regulation, and authorizes Department of Public Works employees or any peace officer to remove it to another City location. 1C requires payment of a $50 removal and storage fee covering up to one week, plus an additional $50 for each further week or part of a week the City stores it; the City disclaims liability for damage sustained during removal or storage. On top of the towing cost, Subsection D sets a separate fine for violating the section of not less than $25 nor more than $100.

The even-side/odd-side design lets plows clear one side of a street at a time during and after a storm, and the three named streets get a stricter both-sides ban because they carry heavier through-traffic or emergency-vehicle needs.
