Glen Cove, NY Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

2, "Electric vehicle charging stations," was added April 12, 2022 and amended November 12, 2025. Subsection C designates specific off-street public parking locations for charging: two spaces at the Pulaski Street Garage and two spaces at the Brewster Street Garage. Subsection B defines an electric vehicle as one using chemical energy stored in rechargeable battery packs, alone or combined with petroleum fuels, and defines an electric vehicle parking space as one marked for exclusive EV charging use and posted with signage saying so. Subsection D sets the billing structure: hourly charging fees are set by City Council resolution rather than fixed in the code itself, so the rate can change without a code amendment, but whatever it is, the code separately makes it a violation for a vehicle to remain in the space more than 60 minutes after it is fully charged, or to occupy the space without charging its battery at all.

Subsection E flatly prohibits nonelectric vehicles from stopping, standing or parking at these stations, so an internal-combustion car parked there is a violation regardless of time. Subsection F sets the penalty at a $75 fine for any offense under the section, and separately notes an offender may also face other applicable fines elsewhere in the City's Code of Ordinances, meaning a driver blocking a charging space and also violating a general parking rule could be cited under both.
