Lower Merion, PA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 145-27 gives the Board of Commissioners a standing mechanism to designate specific streets as off-limits to commercial vehicle parking at all times, listed by street in Schedule XVI (§ 145-116) rather than in the ordinance text itself. The ban covers trucks, trailers, semitrailers and other commercial vehicles regardless of the hour or day. Subsection A exempts Police Department, Fire Department and Public Works Department vehicles, vehicles of a public utility company performing utility work, and vehicles making local deliveries or rendering service to building occupants along the designated highway, so a delivery truck can still stop briefly to serve an address on a restricted street even though it cannot park there generally.

Subsection B requires the Public Works Department to post signs immediately after the Township adopts any new commercial-vehicle parking prohibition, reading exactly NO PARKING OF TRUCKS EXCEPT FOR LOCAL DELIVERY, so drivers have physical notice of the restriction and its delivery exception on-site. This sits alongside the Township's general weight-limit ordinance at § 145-21, which separately restricts heavy commercial vehicles from driving, not just parking, on highways listed in Schedule XII, and the general parking-restriction tools in § 145-26 and § 145-30 that the Township uses for other all-vehicle and special-purpose zones.
