Lower Merion, PA Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 145-55 of the Vehicles and Traffic chapter regulates where recreational vehicles and boats may sit on Township streets. Subsection A defines the covered equipment broadly: a BOAT TRAILER is any vehicle without motive power designed to carry a boat; a MOBILE HOME TRAILER is a vehicle for human habitation, without motive power, designed to attach to a motor-powered vehicle, of any size, including a camper without motive power; a MOTOR HOME is a self-contained, self-powered vehicle for human habitation of any size, including a modified pickup truck or self-propelled camper; and a RECREATION VEHICLE is defined to include any of those three, expressly covering a motor home or mobile home trailer used as permanent living quarters by its owner or occupant.

Subsection B then states the actual restriction: it is unlawful to park any recreational vehicle or boat within the limits of the public right-of-way of any street in the Township except during periods of actual loading or unloading. Because the definition of FOR HUMAN HABITATION covers anything modified to accommodate sleeping, food preparation or waste disposal, the rule reaches campers and converted vehicles as well as factory motor homes. The restriction is townshipwide and tied to the public right-of-way rather than to any particular schedule of streets, unlike the time-limited and prohibited-hours parking rules elsewhere in Chapter 145.

This section does not address RVs or boats stored on private driveways or in yards; that outdoor-storage question falls instead under the Property Maintenance Code's residential storage limit in Chapter 92.
