Shreveport, LA Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Chapter 90 of the Shreveport Code of Ordinances treats loading zones as curb space set aside by city ordinance, not a default right along every block. Section 90-297 requires the traffic engineer to place and maintain signs whenever the city designates a stretch of curb as a passenger or commercial loading zone, and those signs must state the hours the zone is in effect; outside those posted hours, ordinary parking rules apply to the same curb space. Section 90-298 limits use of a marked passenger loading zone to the expeditious loading or unloading of passengers, capped at 15 minutes, during the zone's posted hours.

Section 90-299 governs commercial vehicle loading zones: a vehicle may stop there only for expeditious unloading and delivery or pickup and loading, the stop cannot exceed 60 minutes, and only trucks, delivery vans, or automobiles bearing commercial license plates are permitted to load or unload in the space at all, regardless of how briefly they intend to stay. A related curb-use rule, section 90-296, lets the traffic engineer set aside a hotel loading zone up to 44 feet long near a hotel's curbside entrance, marked by signs or a yellow-painted, stenciled curb, with its own 30-minute limit and use restricted to persons with business at that hotel.
