Canton, OH Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Canton Codified Ordinances 351.19, Length of Time Permitted for Parking, is the city's general street-parking clock: no operator may park a vehicle continuously on any Canton street for a period greater than three hours from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays, including Saturday afternoons, with Sundays and other holidays excepted. The rule dates to 1964 Code Section 809.13 and remains the baseline limit citywide except where a posted sign sets a shorter metered or zone-specific limit under Chapter 353. Because the three-hour clock only runs during the 6 a.m.-to-6 p.m. window on weekdays, the ordinance does not itself impose a curfew on parking overnight or on Sundays; a vehicle left overnight is governed instead by the abandoned/junk-vehicle rules in Section 355.09 (more than 48 hours on a public street without notifying police is prima-facie evidence of abandonment) and by the winter snow-emergency parking ban in Chapter 357 when one is declared.

Enforcement of the three-hour limit is handled by the Canton Police Department and parking enforcement officers, who may issue a second ticket under the continuous-violation rule in Section 351.26 if the same vehicle remains parked more than two hours past an earlier citation, though no vehicle may receive more than two tickets per day for the same infraction at the same location.
