Pontiac, MI Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Pontiac's all-night parking ban sits at City Code § 114-57, inside Article IV's stopping, standing and parking division enforced by the Police Department's Parking Violations Bureau. Subsection (a) forbids parking or leaving a vehicle parked between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on any day on 13 specifically named corridors: Saginaw Street (except the stretch between Water Street and Lafayette Street), Huron Street, Auburn Avenue, Baldwin Avenue, East Boulevard, Oakland Avenue, South Boulevard, Perry Street, State Avenue, Elizabeth Lake Road, Montcalm Street, Orchard Lake Avenue, and Lafayette Street between Saginaw and Perry.

Subsection (b) carves out a narrower, later window for the excepted Saginaw Street segment between Water and Lafayette, banning parking there from 3:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. instead of the citywide 2:00 a.m. start. Both windows exempt physicians responding to emergency calls and other emergency conditions, but carry no exception for residents without off-street parking. Because the list names specific streets rather than applying citywide, a car parked overnight one block off Saginaw on a side street not on the § 114-57 list is not covered by this particular ban, though it may still run afoul of the general stopping-standing-parking rules in § 114-56 or a posted sign under § 114-60.

Enforcement runs through the same citation and towing framework as the rest of Article IV, with the registered owner presumed responsible for a ticket issued to the vehicle.
