Pottstown, PA Parking Rules: Preferential Parking Districts (2026)

Borough Council adopted residential permit parking by Ordinance 1735 in 1993 and has amended it repeatedly since, most recently in 2015 and 2016 to add streets near the Hill School athletic fields and Borough-owned lots. The stated purpose is to give residents priority access to on-street parking on blocks that mix homes with Downtown businesses and offices, where commuter and customer traffic would otherwise fill every space during business hours. Section 409 designates streets in two main zones, inside the PDIDA District (High Street between York and Evans, Hanover Street between High and King, and Charlotte Street between Queen and King) and outside it (segments of Evans, Hanover, High, King, Lincoln Avenue, Manatawny, Thomas and York Streets), plus Borough-owned property and streets affected by Hill School athletic events.

50 per week ($26 a year). Visitor permits and a 50% senior discount for residents 60 and older are both available. Permits must be displayed in the vehicle and are void if used on an unlisted vehicle. The Chief of Police can revoke a permit for any violation of the section, though the holder may appeal to Borough Council within 10 days of the revocation notice, and Council's decision is final.
