Pottstown, PA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Unlike the rest of Section 402, which lists dozens of street-specific no-parking segments by name, Subsection 1 sets 'generally' applicable rules that apply on every street in the Borough without needing a posted sign. Fourteen letters, A through N, each describe a separate prohibited situation: staying back 30 feet from a traffic signal or stop sign (A), 25 feet from an uncontrolled intersection's bisect line (B), 15 feet from a fire hydrant (C), out of bus stops (D), off sidewalks and painted crosswalks (E), out of fire lanes (F), clear of driveways and garages (G), no double parking or blocking a roadway, traffic-way or bike lane (H), off bridges and out of tunnels (I), wherever signs prohibit it (J), during posted street-sweeping hours (K), facing the correct direction, meaning no back-in angle parking, wrong-side parking, or driving the wrong way on a one-way street to park (L), at least 20 feet from a crosswalk (M), and within 12 inches of the curb (N).

Because these fourteen rules are grouped in one subsection but carry different Section 410 fines, the Borough treats them unevenly for enforcement purposes: violations of A, B or C draw a $30 fine, E, F, G or H draw $50, N draws $15, and every other letter, including L's wrong-direction ban, falls to the Part 4 general $25 penalty. This subsection sits apart from Section 401, which only requires parking within marked lines, and from Section 404, which separately bans heavy trucks and oversized vehicles.
