Carlsbad restricts oversized vehicles (22+ ft long, 7+ ft wide/high) on streets between 2 AM and 5 AM. Free permits available: yearly residential (72 hrs, 4x/month) and temporary guest (72 hrs, 6x/year). No utility hookups on streets.
Carlsbad implemented its RV and oversized vehicle ordinance in March 2013, restricting overnight parking of recreational and oversized vehicles on city streets between 2 AM and 5 AM. An oversized vehicle is defined as 22 feet in length, 7 feet in height, or 7 feet in width. Three free permit exceptions exist: a Yearly Residential Permit allowing Carlsbad residents to park their RV at their residence for up to 72 hours, four times per month; a Temporary 72-Hour Guest Permit allowing guest RVs at a residence, six times per year; and a Commercial Property Permit for hotels and motels to accommodate guest RVs.
