Vista regulates oversized recreational vehicles under VMC Section 10.34. RVs and boats on residential property must comply with Development Code parking standards. Storage on streets has limitations.
Vista Municipal Code Section 10.34 defines and regulates oversized recreational vehicles. RV and boat parking on residential property must comply with Development Code standards including setbacks and surface requirements. The STR ordinance explicitly excludes trailer coaches (Development Code Chapter 18.02) and oversized recreational vehicles (VMC Section 10.34.010.B) from STR use. Street parking of RVs and oversized vehicles is regulated with potential time limits. California Vehicle Code Section 22651(k) applies: vehicles on public streets for more than 72 consecutive hours may be cited and towed. Vista's Code Enforcement handles complaints about recreational vehicle parking on private property. Boats are generally treated as recreational vehicles for parking purposes.
Street parking violation: citation and potential tow. Property storage violation: Code Enforcement notice.
