Old Bridge, NJ Parking Rules: Snow Removal Parking Rules (2026)

Schedule A in § 435-35 lists the Township's specific snow emergency routes by name, covering major neighborhood streets including Madison Park, Cheesequake, Villanova, Princeton, Rutgers, Laurence Harbor, Cliffwood Beach/Knollcroft, Ocean/Raritan and 'all apartment complex entrances,' among dozens of others; a handful of streets, like Downing and Westminister, are marked 'miscellaneous (private responsibility)' rather than Township-maintained. Once the Mayor declares an emergency and it is publicized through radio or newspaper under § 435-32 and § 435-33, § 435-34 makes it unlawful to park an unattended vehicle on any of those routes or to drive with tires unsafe for snow and ice conditions.

Any unoccupied vehicle found parked in violation is declared a nuisance under § 435-36, and a police officer may have it towed and stored at the owner's expense, billed according to the Township's Towing Ordinance, Chapter 527. Section 435-37 clarifies the article does not authorize parking anywhere otherwise prohibited by other Township rules, meaning normal no-parking zones still apply on top of the emergency route ban. Enforcement runs through the Old Bridge Police Department, which patrols the designated routes during declared emergencies and can ticket or arrange removal of vehicles blocking plows.

Violators face Municipal Court prosecution under § 435-38, with the judge setting a fine up to $500 per offense, in the judge's discretion, in addition to whatever towing and storage costs the owner already owes.
