San Ramon, CA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Street parking in San Ramon is regulated by San Ramon Municipal Code Title 6 (Traffic) and California Vehicle Code. The 72-hour rule under CVC 22651(k) is actively enforced, and complaints trigger chalking by San Ramon Police Department parking enforcement or Contra Costa County Sheriff. Moving the vehicle a few feet does not reset the 72-hour clock under current enforcement practice; the vehicle must be used and removed from the block. Posted time-limit zones (2-hour, 4-hour) exist in commercial areas such as City Center Bishop Ranch, Crow Canyon Commons, and around Central Park. Red curbs prohibit stopping, yellow curbs are loading zones, white curbs are passenger loading, green curbs are short-term parking. Parking is prohibited within 15 feet of fire hydrants, 20 feet of crosswalks, and 30 feet of stop signs per CVC 22500. Blocking sidewalks, driveways, or bike lanes is prohibited. Some neighborhoods have residential permit parking programs requiring annual permits. Street sweeping operates on posted schedules (generally once or twice monthly); violations result in citations and possible towing.
