San Ramon, CA Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Municipal Code § B8-37, in Article 4 of the Vehicles and Traffic division, sets the basic duration limit for on-street parking: any vehicle parked or left standing on a street for seventy-two or more consecutive hours may be removed as provided in the Vehicle Code. The rule applies citywide to ordinary on-street parking and does not require the vehicle to be broken down or abandoned, only stationary for three full days. Section B8-38 gives the city a separate, faster removal tool: it may post signs on any street giving notice that vehicles will be removed, then have noncompliant vehicles towed twenty-four hours later, when the street is needed for cleaning, repair, construction, utility installation, or a permitted special use that would conflict with the normal flow of traffic, or when a vehicle is illegally parked in violation of a posted traffic ordinance or resolution.

Both removal powers work alongside, not instead of, the state Vehicle Code's own towing authority. Neighboring provisions in the same division separately restrict oversized vehicles longer than eighteen feet, over eighty inches wide or heavier than ten thousand pounds from parking on any city street at any time under § B8-31, and require wheels to be blocked on grades exceeding three percent under § B8-36, but those rules are distinct from the general seventy-two-hour street parking limit.
