West Hartford, CT Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 168-13B(1) lists a long roster of prohibited on-street parking acts alongside the curb-distance, loading-zone, and driveway rules. Subsection (c) bars parking in excess of 12 inches from a curb, or from the edge of the paved surface on an uncurbed street. Subsection (e) bars parking in a loading zone outright. Subsection (i) bars parking on the wrong side of the street. Subsection (j) bars obstructing a driveway, and defines what that means precisely: a driveway is obstructed when a vehicle directly blocks any portion of it or parks within three feet to either side of it, so even a vehicle that does not fully cover the driveway opening can still violate the rule.

The same subsection separately bars parking within 25 feet of a corner or stop sign, within 25 feet of a crosswalk, within 10 feet of a hydrant, in an intersection or marked bus stop, so as to impede traffic, double-parking, and parking in a no-standing area or a posted no-parking zone. All of these specific acts under Section 168-13B share the same $38 fine set by Section 168-13B(2), and Section 168-13D adds an administrative fee of $2 per $10 of the fine. Section 168-13E treats each 20-foot segment of a vehicle or trailer as a separate cumulative violation. An owner has 14 days under Section 168-16 to pay before the fine doubles, and can contest the ticket under Section 168-17.
