Moore, OK Public Conduct: Jaywalking (2026)

Sec 15-1707, 'Prohibited Crossing,' states that between adjacent intersections at which traffic-control signals are in operation, pedestrians shall not cross at any place except in a crosswalk, the core jaywalking rule on signalized blocks. Sec 15-1706, 'When Pedestrians Shall Yield,' requires that a pedestrian crossing a roadway at any point other than within a marked crosswalk or an intersection yield the right-of-way to all vehicles on the roadway, and applies the same yield duty where a pedestrian tunnel or overhead crossing has been provided; the section notes it does not apply where crossing is outright prohibited under Sec 15-1707.

Sec 15-1705 adds that a pedestrian crossing outside a crosswalk must cross at right angles to the curb or by the shortest route to the opposite curb. Sec 15-1709 further requires pedestrians to use a sidewalk where one is provided rather than walk in the adjacent roadway, and where no sidewalk exists, to walk facing oncoming traffic. The city's bond schedule specifically lists 'Prohibiting Crossing' under Sec 15-1707 and 'Jaywalking/Pedestrians Yield' under Sec 15-1706, each carrying a $109 bond. Moore Police Department officers enforce these sections under their Sec 15-1801 authority to enforce street traffic regulations and investigate violations, and citations are heard in municipal court.
