Westfield, IN Public Conduct: Public Alcohol Use (2026)

Section 44-9(2) of the Westfield City Code creates a specific exception to the city's normal park alcohol ban for Grand Junction Plaza: the use of alcohol and possession of an open container are permitted there, contingent on the user not violating the Indiana Criminal Code's provisions regulating the use and sale of alcohol. That stands apart from Section 44-1(5), which prohibits alcohol in Westfield's other parks unless a special event permit is obtained through the parks and recreation administration office. Grand Junction Plaza operates under its own extended hours in Section 44-9(1): Sunday through Wednesday 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday until 10:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., 365 days a year.

The plaza's general rules still apply, including the six-foot leash requirement for animals, a strict ban on skateboards, and a requirement that cyclists dismount and walk their bikes through rather than ride within the plaza. Westfield Welcome and the Westfield Parks and Recreation Department jointly regulate amplified music and stage use in the plaza alongside the alcohol allowance.
