City Code § 35-130(i) tells garage sale permit holders that their signage 'shall comply with temporary sign regulations set forth in chapter 80 of the city's land development code' and bars any sign from the public right-of-way outright. Chapter 80's temporary sign table at § 80-211 then sets the garage sale entry specifically: a maximum size of four square feet, a setback of five feet from the official right-of-way line and 15 feet from an interior side property line, an earliest installation date of one day before the sale, and mandatory removal on the day the sale ends.

The table also limits a resident to one sign for the sale. General temporary sign standards in § 80-210 layer on top: the sign cannot be illuminated, cannot exceed ten feet in height, must be placed so it does not block sightlines at intersections, and must be prepainted or professionally printed, since handwritten signs are not permitted anywhere in the city. Because § 35-130(i) folds garage sale signage into chapter 80 rather than setting a freestanding rule, a garage sale sign that violates any chapter 80 temporary sign standard, placed on the right-of-way, oversized, illuminated, or put up too early, puts the underlying garage sale permit itself out of compliance with § 35-130.
