Republic Services provides Concord single-family residential customers with two free on-call bulky-item cleanups per calendar year, each allowing up to three cubic yards of qualifying material such as furniture, mattresses, large appliances, and e-waste. Appointments must be scheduled in advance; items must be set out by 6:00 AM on the scheduled day.
Under the Concord franchise, Republic Services offers residential customers two free bulky-item collections annually (one every six months is typical). Each appointment covers up to three cubic yards β roughly a full pickup-truck bed β and up to two "white goods" (refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters). Acceptable items include furniture, mattresses and box springs, carpet and padding (cut to 4-foot lengths and bundled), large appliances (CFCs in refrigerators are recovered per federal Clean Air Act Β§608), televisions and monitors, computers, and scrap metal. Prohibited items: hazardous waste, paint, solvents, motor oil (use Contra Costa HHW in Martinez), tires with rims, construction debris, concrete/rock/dirt, auto parts, and commercial-quantity debris. Residents must call Republic Services or book online at least several business days ahead; items must be curbside by 6:00 AM and accessible from the street. Extra appointments beyond the two annual cleanups can be scheduled for a fee. Multi-family properties handle bulk through shared bin arrangements and owner/manager-coordinated cleanups. Illegal dumping of bulk items at curbs, vacant lots, or waterways is a separate violation (see illegal-dumping).
