Accepted items include: furniture (couches, chairs, tables, dressers), mattresses and box springs, carpet (rolled, under 4 feet), and major appliances (refrigerators β CFCs removed by hauler at no charge, washers, dryers, water heaters). Schedule at least 48 hours ahead via 925-685-4711 or online. Items must be placed curbside by 6 AM on the scheduled day, not blocking sidewalks or fire hydrants. Excluded from bulky pickup: electronic waste (TVs, computers, monitors), tires, motor oil, paint, batteries, construction debris, and hazardous materials β these must be taken to the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Martinez (free for residents) or to certified e-waste recyclers. Additional pickups beyond the two free annually cost approximately $40-75 depending on item type and quantity. Illegal dumping of bulky items constitutes a misdemeanor under WCMC Β§5-8.310.
