Pittsburg Disposal offers residential customers on-call bulky item cleanups - typically two free pickups per year - for items like furniture, mattresses, appliances, and e-waste. Pickups must be scheduled in advance; items placed curbside without an appointment will not be collected.
Single-family residential customers of Pittsburg Disposal are entitled to on-call bulky waste collection as part of their service agreement. The standard allowance is two free bulky item cleanups per household per calendar year, each with a volume cap (commonly the equivalent of a pickup truck load, roughly three cubic yards) and an item count cap (commonly up to six items). Eligible items include furniture (couches, chairs, tables, mattresses, box springs), major appliances including CFC-containing white goods (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners), water heaters, BBQs (no propane tanks), and bagged or bundled extra yard waste. Electronic waste (televisions, computers, monitors) is accepted through the bulky pickup but handled as universal waste. Items excluded from bulky pickup include household hazardous waste, paint, motor oil, automotive fluids, tires more than four per pickup, construction and demolition debris, and any item longer than six feet or heavier than one person can move. Pickups must be scheduled at least three business days in advance by calling or using the online portal. Items must be at the curb by 6:00 AM on the scheduled day, separated from regular carts. Additional cleanups beyond the included allowance are available for a fee. Illegal curbside dumping of bulky items without an appointment is a code violation under PMC Chapter 8.12.
