Routine bulky-item pickup is covered in section 11-26(a)(3): the parish collects bulky waste from residential units as long as it's nonputrescible, contains only limited combustible material, and isn't contractor's refuse, and anyone setting out an item with doors, like a refrigerator or freezer, has to remove the doors first for safety. Vegetative debris such as yard waste and tree limbs is capped at thirty cubic yards per residential unit per calendar month under section 11-26(a)(4); small commercial units get fifteen cubic yards per collection under section 11-26(b)(2), and must call the solid waste department to request that pickup.

Anything bigger than what these sections authorize, described as bulky waste 'not eligible for pickup,' falls under section 11-36: it can't be left on a roadside, sidewalk or public right-of-way, and instead has to go into a large commercial refuse container, a roll-off box of ten to forty cubic yards, rented from a commercial hauler at the property owner's or occupant's expense. 22 an hour, for example, and files a lien against the property. That lien process lets an owner appeal to the parish council within thirty days of the invoice, and from there to the 32nd Judicial District Court.
