Terrebonne Parish, LA Trash & Recycling: Recycling Requirements (2026)

Section 11-101 sets up curbside recycling as an opt-in add-on to Terrebonne Parish's regular solid waste service, not a requirement like trash collection. Subsection (a) authorizes the parish council to offer it on a voluntary basis in a service area the council prescribes by resolution, aimed at reaching the most residents for the least cost, built out subdivision by subdivision. Once a resident subscribes, subsection (c) sets the collection schedule at once weekly, on routes the solid waste department establishes. Subsection (d) provides one eighteen-gallon recycling receptacle per participating residence for that household's exclusive use; the resident is responsible for its care and custody, must pay to replace a lost or missing bin, but gets a damaged one replaced free.
