Terrebonne Parish, LA Trash & Recycling: Pickup Rules & Schedules (2026)

Terrebonne Parish Code section 11-27 puts the Solid Waste Department in charge of deciding what qualifies for collection, and the solid waste administrator has authority to refuse any waste that is not authorized. Residents and small commercial customers must place authorized solid waste at the public point of collection using the container methods set out in section 11-26, and whatever goes out must be readily accessible to collectors and present no hazard to them or their equipment. The parish will not collect construction debris, demolition debris, concrete, tires, land clearing debris, or closed containers that hold or may hold gas, liquid or hazardous substances, such as butane bottles; those loads have to go to a permitted disposal site at the owner's expense under section 11-32.

Containers matter too: section 11-25 limits resident-owned containers to between 10 and 32 gallons, capped at 75 pounds combined weight, disposable bags to 50 pounds, and no more than one-half cubic yard of waste per container per collection. Bundled trash such as newspapers, cardboard and light tree debris cannot exceed four feet in length, two feet in diameter or 50 pounds. Households without reasonable access to a public collection point can apply to the solid waste administrator for a private point of collection, but the application must include the property owner's plan, the private street owner's written consent for TPCG and its contractors to use the street, and proof the street meets the parish's subdivision street standards; the administrator has sole authority to reject any application that falls short. Waste left in an underground container is never the parish's responsibility to collect.
