Wylie, TX Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Wylie Code of Ordinances Sec. 98-21(d) sets residential brush and bulk waste collection at 12 times per year, separate from the weekly garbage pickup under Sec. 98-21(a). Place brush and bulk items between the curb line and the sidewalk; where no curb or sidewalk exists, set them immediately adjacent to the street without blocking vehicle or pedestrian passage. The pile is capped at four cubic yards total. Anything larger is the occupant's or homeowner's responsibility to remove at their own expense, or through an alternative bulk-hauling option the resident arranges.

Sec. 98-2 defines noncompliance bulk as a pile exceeding four cubic yards, items not eligible for bulk pickup, oversized pieces, brush that is not bundled, items blocked or inaccessible to the crew, or items not placed in front of the home; the crew leaves noncompliant piles behind. Timing matters too: it is unlawful to set brush and bulk out before the Friday preceding the scheduled collection weekend, and everything must stay out of public view until that Friday. Piles may not go on a neighbor's property or on any site other than an authorized municipal solid waste or recycling location.

If a resident leaves a noncompliant pile uncorrected, the city can have it hauled away and add the removal cost to the property's utility account, so an ignored bulk violation becomes a bill, not just a warning.
