Eden Prairie, MN Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Eden Prairie City Code Section 9.01 governs storage and collection of solid waste, yard waste and recyclable waste. Subd. 9 requires every occupant of a Single-Family Dwelling, Multiple-Family Dwelling or Commercial Establishment to be a party to, or beneficiary of, a contract for collection of the solid waste generated on the premises; there is no city-run curbside pickup, so residents must arrange private hauler service. Subd. 3.A requires storage containers to sit at least 20 feet from the property line, and containers kept in a front yard must be screened from the public street with an opaque fence or coniferous landscaping; a corner lot counts as having two front yards.

Subd. 3.B limits curbside placement to a 24-hour window before the scheduled pickup and requires containers to come back off the curb within 24 hours after pickup. Subd. 3.C requires single-family solid waste to be kept no more than one week (unless composted under Subd. 7) and stored in 5- to 100-gallon metal or plastic containers with tight-fitting covers kept clean and sanitary; the same one-week limit and container standard apply to multi-family dwellings and commercial establishments under Subd. 3.E and 3.F, which also allow dumpsters or roll-off containers with tight covers.

Subd. 3.I caps a single-family property at one roll-off container at a time, for no more than 90 days, unless the City Manager approves otherwise in writing. Subd. 6 bars anyone but the owner or an authorized hauler from scavenging materials once they are set out for collection. Subd. 10 makes a violation of the section a petty misdemeanor, escalating to a misdemeanor on a fourth or subsequent violation.
