Eden Prairie, MN Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 9.01, Subdivision 2 defines Yard Waste as solid waste generated from landscaping and lawn care activities, mowing, trimming, gardening, or raking, and lists grass clippings, twigs, tree and brush clippings, straw, pine needles, tree branches, soft vegetative garden waste, and leaves as covered material. Subdivision 3.D then sets the storage clock: the owner or occupant of a single-family dwelling, multiple-family dwelling, or commercial establishment cannot keep yard waste on the property for more than one week, unless the material is being composted under the standards in Subdivision 7.

Subdivision 3.B lets a resident set yard waste containers curbside twenty-four hours before the scheduled pickup and requires the containers to come back off the curb within twenty-four hours after pickup, so material cannot simply sit at the curb between collection cycles. Subdivision 3.H separately bars burying yard waste anywhere without prior written City permission. Read together, the rule gives Eden Prairie residents two lawful paths for yard waste that will not be hauled away within a week: composting it on site under the Subdivision 7 standards, or arranging for collection through a licensed hauler under Section 5.36 before the one-week clock runs out.
