Coral Springs, FL Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Section 8-35 regulates private haulers who remove or transport construction and demolition debris and waste from single-family and multi-family residential construction sites over city streets or rights-of-way for hire or salvage; recyclable construction material counts as covered debris. Subsection (1) makes a city permit mandatory before any such hauling, on top of any occupational license the hauler already carries. The application, filed with the building department, must document the applicant's business structure and any principals' history operating a solid waste business, along with the equipment to be used: the type and number of vehicles, the method of collection, license plate numbers, and each operator's commercial driver's license number.

Subsection (2)(b)2 adds the marking rule that anchors the dumpster placement standard: every portable waste container, whether a dumpster or a roll-off box, must be imprinted with the owner's name in block letters at least 2 inches high, so code officers and neighbors can trace an unmarked or abandoned container back to the hauling company. Permits run October 1 through September 30 each year and cost $3,000 annually, or $1,500 for a permit obtained between April 1 and September 30, and require proof of insurance and a license agreement covering disposal locations, hours of collection and indemnification; they are non-transferable.

The city can impound a hauler's vehicle if it operates with a revoked permit or keeps working after a written warning and a 10-day cure period for operating without one; impounded vehicles are held up to 60 days and may be sold at public auction if unclaimed.
