Shreveport runs no curbside recycling. The city suspended the program in October 2020 after its hauler contract and the local processing facility both ended, and it delivers no new recycling carts.
Chapter 74 still authorizes semi-monthly single-stream collection in 64-gallon carts with a $2.50 monthly service fee, but no service operates under it. The city states the program is suspended, will not deliver or repair recycling carts, and will pick up a damaged cart on request at 318-673-6300. Household hazardous waste, paint, pesticides, herbicides, used motor oil, car batteries and tires go through Shreveport Green collection events; call 318-219-1888 for an appointment. Other material goes in the 96-gallon garbage cart or to the city's Woolworth Road Regional Solid Waste Facility in Keithville.
No resident faces a penalty for not recycling while the program is suspended. Damaging or removing a city recycling cart without consent remains a Chapter 74 violation.
