Section 22-23 sets the household rules for putting out yard waste alongside regular trash. Grass clippings, leaves, small tree cuttings and similar material have to be bagged and tied before they go out, both to stop odors and to keep vectors like roaches and rodents out, and no single bag can weigh more than 60 pounds or run longer than 3 feet, matching the general limit the section sets for all bagged trash. Cardboard has to be broken down before it goes in a city container so it does not jam the mechanism.

For loose branches too big to bag, Section 22-23(e) treats bulk brush as its own category: individual pieces cannot exceed 3 feet in length or 3 inches in diameter, and the pile has to sit neatly along the curb or gutter without blocking the sidewalk. Where a home fronts a major thoroughfare and the curb is not accessible, the pile can move as close to the curb as safely possible instead, but it still cannot come within 4 feet of a mailbox, cable box, wall, decorative item, tree, low-voltage landscape lighting or anything else the collection truck's mechanical gripper could damage while reaching for it.

Residents whose yard waste exceeds what city-owned containers hold can request a special haul or extra containers rather than leaving material uncontained beyond these limits.
