Glendale, AZ Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 18-33(c) sets the standard for ordinary yard waste: grass clippings, weeds, and leaves must be cut to lengths of five feet or less, be no more than twelve inches in diameter, and be bagged and placed in containers as the city directs. Uncontained yard waste, meaning loose piles not bagged or binned, will not be collected at all. Section 18-33(d) handles bigger material: cactus plants, trimmings, or prunings from shrubs, bushes, and trees, including palm trees, that exceed five feet in length or twelve inches in diameter must be separated from other refuse and collected as bulk trash instead of regular yard waste.

Bulk trash collection itself runs on a schedule set by City Council under Section 18-108(a), and Section 18-108(b) generally caps bulk items at five feet in length, but carves out an explicit exception for bulk trash and palm fronds, which can exceed that limit. Bulk items must be neatly stacked parallel to the street or alley property line, kept clear of city containers, water meters, and utility boxes, and residents cannot set bulk trash out earlier than the Thursday before the scheduled pickup week under Section 18-108(c).

Owners who leave bulk trash out too early and don't remove it within 24 hours of a violation notice can be billed for the city's removal cost.
