Yorba Linda, CA Building Safety: Building Inspections (2026)

Yorba Linda Municipal Code Section 15.04.020 amends Section 110, Inspection, of the adopted California Building Code, adding Section 110.7, Re-inspections, which authorizes the Building Official to assess a reinspection fee whenever the work inspected is incomplete, required corrections are unmade, approved plans are unavailable to the inspector, access is not provided on the requested date, or an item is deviated from approved plans or requested for reinspection three or more times; the fee does not apply the first time a job is rejected for noncompliance.

To obtain reinspection, the applicant must file a written application on a City-furnished form and pay the fee set by City Council resolution, and no further inspection occurs until fees are paid. Added Section 110.8, Extra inspections, allows only one extra inspection under regular fees when deficient or defective work forces additional visits; every subsequent extra visit requires its own reinspection fee, with the permit holder responsible for each. Added Section 110.09 defines a successful inspection as one resulting in approval, partial approval, correction, or other progressive action toward completion, expressly excluding miscellaneous or progress inspections, site-maintenance checks, and inspections of unpermitted work.

Added Section 110.10 requires exterior walls and roofs to be finished within six months of construction start or foundation approval, waivable if screened from view, and Section 110.11 requires materials to be kept neatly stored during construction.
