Section 17.48.050(D) is one of the operating standards every home occupation permit holder in Lake Elsinore must follow: no signs may be displayed in connection with the home occupation, and there can be no advertising construed as encouraging customers, clients or the public to visit the premises. The prohibition is total, unlike the sign allowances found elsewhere in Title 17 for commercial and mixed-use districts, because a home occupation by definition must stay clearly incidental and secondary to the dwelling under § 17.48.010. The related standard at subsection (E) reinforces the point by barring any alteration to the dwelling's appearance, including lighting, color, or construction changes, that would let the property be reasonably recognized as serving a nonresidential use.

Subsection (H) extends the sign ban to vehicles, prohibiting any vehicle or trailer displaying signage from being parked in a way that draws attention to the premises. Together these provisions mean a home-based business cannot rely on curb appeal, yard signs, vehicle wraps, or window advertising to attract walk-in customers; marketing has to happen off-site. The Planning Department enforces this alongside the home occupation permit issued under § 17.48.030, and a violation is grounds for immediate permit revocation under the introductory clause of § 17.48.050.
