Redondo Beach Municipal Code 3-7.1303 prohibits heavy commercial vehicles from parking on streets in residential districts. A commercial vehicle with an unladen weight of 6,000 pounds or more, or a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more, may not be parked on residential streets.
Under RBMC 3-7.1303, within the Title 3, Chapter 7 (Traffic) parking article, no commercial vehicle having an unladen weight of 6,000 pounds or more, or a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,000 pounds or more, may be parked on any street in a residential district. 'Commercial vehicle' is defined by cross-reference to RBMC 3-7.901. The rule targets box trucks, large work trucks, and similar heavy vehicles stored on residential streets. Lighter commercial vehicles and brief loading stops are not barred here, though curb-color rules (RBMC 3-7.1205) and time-limit signs still apply. Commercial vehicles meeting oversized dimensions (22 feet or 8x7 feet) are additionally subject to the 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Article 21 prohibition.
Parking a commercial vehicle of 6,000 pounds unladen or 10,000 pounds GVWR or more on a residential street is a citable violation of RBMC 3-7.1303 and the vehicle may be subject to tow.
