Redondo Beach regulates RVs, trailers, and boats as 'oversized vehicles' under Municipal Code Article 21. Any vehicle or combination 22 feet or longer, or 8 feet high and 7 feet wide, may not park on city streets or lots between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. without a permit.
RBMC 3-7.2101 defines an oversized vehicle as any motorized vehicle, or combination with non-motorized vehicles or a trailer, meeting or exceeding 22 feet in length, and/or the combination of 8 feet in height and 7 feet in width. This captures most motorhomes, boat trailers, and travel trailers. RBMC 3-7.2102 bars oversized vehicles from city streets and lots between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. unless authorized. Residents may obtain an overnight permit (RBMC 3-7.2106) to park adjacent to their residence, or within 400 feet if the adjacent curb is unavailable. Permits are capped at six monthly and sixty yearly (Tuesday–Friday), plus three seven-day visitor permits annually. Holders must still observe street-sweeping rules and may not sleep in the vehicle.
Parking an oversized RV or boat trailer on a street or city lot between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. without a valid permit is a citable parking violation under RBMC 3-7.2102 and may also subject the vehicle to tow.
