Sunrise bans parking or storing prohibited vehicles (trucks, trailers, or stretched autos over 21 feet, semis, box trucks, step vans, buses, and construction equipment) in residential districts unless hidden inside a garage (Code Sec. 14-31).
City Code Sec. 14-31 makes it unlawful to park or store a prohibited vehicle on any residential property unless it is inside a garage and not visible from the street or abutting property. Prohibited vehicles include any truck, trailer, or stretched/extended auto or SUV over 21 feet, semi-trailers, tractor-trailer combinations, truck tractors, box trucks, step vans, buses, and agricultural, construction, or industrial equipment. Exemptions cover government, utility, and active contractor vehicles working the site between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Trucks carrying explosive or combustible material cannot be parked overnight except in a garage or carport with no ignition source (Sec. 14-33). HOAs and CDDs frequently add stricter commercial-vehicle rules.
Illegal business truck parking is $75 under the Sec. 14-69 schedule; continuing Article II violations can reach $500 per day under Sec. 14-49, each day a separate offense. HOA and CDD fines apply separately.
