Sunrise prohibits parking on city streets, alleys, and rights-of-way unless an ordinance allows it (Code Sec. 14-16(a)). The city adopts Florida's traffic parking rules (Fla. Stat. Ch. 316) and enforces citations through the Broward County Clerk.
Under City Code Sec. 14-16(a), no one may park on the streets, alleys, rights-of-way, or vacant property within the city unless otherwise permitted by ordinance, so casual on-street parking is restricted rather than a default right. Sec. 14-17 adopts Florida's Uniform Traffic Code (Fla. Stat. Ch. 316) parking regulations, including the 15-foot fire-hydrant clearance and no parking in crosswalks, intersections, or fire lanes. Citations are processed by the Broward County Clerk of Courts; a driver has 10 working days to pay or appeal to a traffic magistrate (Secs. 14-66, 14-68). Median-strip parking is banned entirely (Sec. 14-16(c)). HOA and CDD streets may add their own restrictions.
Parking on streets, alleys, or rights-of-way is $75; blocking a sidewalk or driveway, or parking within 15 feet of a hydrant, is $25; median parking is $50 (Sec. 14-69). A $5 school-crossing surcharge is added to each citation.
