Berwyn, IL Parking Rules: Preferential Parking Districts (2026)

Chapter 484 of the Berwyn Code of Ordinances builds the city's preferential parking system. Section 484.01 has the City Council designate residential parking zones as traffic conditions require, and the zones must be posted as set forth in § 442.01. Section 484.02 sets up SuperZones: a resident living on a listed block who buys the city vehicle license under Chapter 462 is furnished a SuperZone decal, issued by the City Collector, which is combined with the vehicle sticker and distinctive for each zone. Division (C) lists 21 separate areas, from Euclid Avenue between Thirty-Fourth Street and Ogden Avenue to Grove Avenue between the alley south of 22nd Street and 23rd Street. Divisions (D) and (E) add "Resident Parking Only" streets that need special zone stickers: the 1600 block of Wesley Avenue and 14th Street from Oak Park to Grove Avenue and to Euclid Avenue.

Citywide, § 484.08(A) limits street parking from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. to vehicles with a Berwyn on-street vehicle license, a visitor parking pass or a temporary visitor parking pass, unless otherwise provided or posted. Section 484.08A layers extra windows onto named blocks: 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday on Stanley Avenue and the Maple, Wisconsin, Wenonah and Home Avenue blocks north of 31st Street; 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday on Wesley Avenue from 34th Street to Ogden Avenue; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday near Vacin Fairway; 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on other blocks; and 3:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Lombard Avenue from Roosevelt Road to Pershing Road. Enforcement on a block begins only once signs showing the restriction are posted on that block.

Households on resident-only or SuperZone blocks get one free annual visitor pass and one visitor booklet under § 484.04, available at the Parking Division of the Police Department and at City Hall. The pass year runs July 1 to June 30. Temporary passes under § 484.04B come in books of 15, each good for one 24-hour period within a one-block radius. Section 484.06 exempts the streets beside public grammar schools and emergency, utility and city vehicles on emergency duty.
