A nonconforming vehicle as referenced in subsection A of this Section refers to any trailer or vehicle if any part of such trailer or vehicle, together with all fixtures, accessories or property affixed thereto (other than single post radio antennas), measures more than: 1. Eight (8) feet in width; or 2. Seven and one-half (7½) feet in height; or 3. Twenty (20) feet in length.

Section 15.64.075 of the Los Angeles County Code, in Title 15 (Vehicles and Traffic), regulates what it calls a nonconforming vehicle: any trailer or vehicle that measures more than 8 feet wide, more than 7½ feet tall, or more than 20 feet long. The measurement covers the whole rig, including all fixtures, accessories and property affixed to it, with one carve-out: single post radio antennas do not count. The text names no vehicle type and measures size alone, so exceeding any one of the three limits is enough.

In 20 districts the permit is required at any time. In Marina del Rey it is required only between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Subsection C keeps five activities lawful on designated streets and alleys for as long as the vehicle is actually involved in them: necessary loading and unloading; a service activity on the adjacent lot or parcel; a lawful commercial use on the adjacent lot or parcel; construction of buildings or structures on the adjacent lot or parcel; and construction or maintenance of a street, alley, parkway or highway.
Residential permits are capped per residence. Each permit lasts 24 hours and can be used for at most two consecutive 24-hour periods. Ladera Heights, View Park/Windsor Hills, Marina del Rey and Altadena residences can be issued up to 24 permits per calendar year. Residences in the other 17 districts can be issued up to 30. Subsection F sends applicants to the local Sheriff's Station or Parking Enforcement Office serving the district. The section was most recently amended by Ordinance 2026-0003.
Violations & Fines
Section 15.64.075 sets no penalty of its own, so the general penalty in Section 15.12.010 applies to Title 15 violations. Parking a nonconforming vehicle without a displayed permit is an infraction: a fine not exceeding $50 on a first conviction, not exceeding $100 for a second conviction within one year, and not exceeding $250 for a third or later conviction within a year.
