Carts may be placed at the collection location no earlier than 3:30 p.m. the day before collection and must be removed no later than the day after. Place carts at the curb with wheels toward the home, at least 3 feet from cars, trees, and mailboxes, with all trash bagged and the lid closed.
South Fulton's Solid Waste Ordinance (Sec. 6-2014) governs when and where carts go out. Each owner of a residential service unit must place the residential solid waste cart, bulk waste, white goods, and recovered-materials (recycling) bin at the designated collection location no earlier than 3:30 p.m. on the day prior to the scheduled collection day, and must remove the cart and recycling bin no later than the day following collection. The city's cart-placement guidance translates this for residents: set the cart at the curb the night before pickup; point the cart's wheels toward your home; keep the cart at least 3 feet away from all objects, including cars, trees, and mailboxes; do not block sightlines or hinder access by parking next to the cart; bag all trash and put no unbagged items in the cart; and make sure all waste fits inside with the lid firmly closed. Proper spacing and clearance are needed so the automated/curbside trucks can service the cart without obstruction.
Carts placed out too early or left out past the allowed window, blocked by vehicles, or set without the required 3-foot clearance can be skipped by the hauler and reported to Code Enforcement via SeeClickFix or 470-809-TELL. Repeated improper set-out is a property-maintenance/solid-waste violation enforced in Municipal Court.
