Each single-family, multiplex, and multi-family household in Alameda gets one free on-call bulky/cleanup collection per year through ACI. A set-out may include up to 3 cubic yards of material plus up to 3 large bulky items (max 150 lbs each). Schedule by phone or email; extra pickups cost a fee.
Bulky-item disposal in the City of Alameda is handled by the franchised hauler, Alameda County Industries (ACI), through its On-Call/Bulky Item Collection (Cleanup) program. Per ACI's Alameda cleanup page, all single-family, multiplex, and multi-family residential customers receive one (1) on-call bulky-item collection per household/unit per year at no additional charge (this is bundled into the integrated rate). Per set-out, residents may put out up to 3 cubic yards of material (a 3' x 3' x 9' pile) and up to 3 large bulky items, each up to 150 pounds. Accepted items include large bulky goods such as appliances, mattresses, and furniture; contained trash and recyclables; and undamaged reusable household goods (housewares, toys, sports equipment, non-upholstered furniture). One of the three bulky slots may be used for e-waste such as computers and televisions. NOT accepted are dirt, rocks, and construction or demolition debris, and household hazardous waste (radioactive materials, unwanted medications and sharps, and poisonous or toxic materials). Additional pickups beyond the free annual one are available for a fee. To schedule, residents contact ACI by phone at 510-483-1400 or by email at info@alamedacountyindustries.com.
Setting out C&D debris, dirt/rocks, or household hazardous waste for bulky collection is not allowed. Exceeding the 3 cubic yards / 3 items / 150-lb limits may require an additional paid pickup.
