Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Article I of Chapter 354 of the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Code, adopted by the Township Council 12-20-2005 as Ord. No. 2005:32, defines BULKY WASTE in § 354-1. It includes chairs (not recliners), sofas (not sofa beds), carpet that is cut, rolled and tied in three-foot lengths, small television sets, furniture and similar items suitable for routine collection. The definition ends with the schedule: this material is picked up on the second collection day of the week.

Under § 354-3(A), the Business Administrator can provide for collection by contract or through Township employees and decides the extent and frequency of collections. Under § 354-3(B), the Director of the Department of Public Works promulgates the regulations on dates and times, and copies are available for public inspection at the Department of Public Works and at the office of the Township Clerk.

Section 354-13 fixes the set-out window: all containers, bundles and bulky wastes go to the curb no earlier than 4:00 p.m. on the day prior to the scheduled collection day. Section 354-13.1 adds that collection starts not earlier than 6:00 a.m., and items placed at the curb later than 6:00 a.m. are not guaranteed collection.

Heavier material does not go to the curb at all. Section 354-5 requires stumps free of dirt and rocks, demolition materials, building materials and industrial refuse to be brought to the recycling yard, which § 354-1 defines as the Municipal Recycling Center on Pumphouse Road off of Route 46 East. White goods such as refrigerators with doors removed, stoves, washing machines, dryers, water heaters and dishwashers are listed as recyclables in § 354-1.
